....Take
a gander at a map of the Woodstock area.

If you know of any other neato cyber-routers/maps, please let me
know at DuckSoup@quackquack.net
- Delorme's Cyber Router - http://route30.delorme.com
- a great online travel route planner (no maps). Choose "Woodstock,
Ulster County ZIP: 12498" when it gives you a choice of two
Woodstocks in NY.
- Delorme's Cyber Atlas - http://atlas.delorme.com
- an online map creator, good for seeing a map of the Woodstock area (not
as good though as the sanned map above)
- MapQuest - http://www.mapquest.com
This one has Driving Direction help that is not as user friendly as Delorme's
site, however the map of the Woodstock NY area is much better as it
shows Lanesville (where Steve's Campsite is) on the map, so it's easier
to get your bearings straight. Go to the MapQuest site and click on Interactive
Atlas, then fill in Woodstock and NY (leave
the Address/Intersection and the Zip
Code fields blank, they aren't necessary) and click "search".
Then chose the map on the bottom (shows Route 212) when it gives you a
choice of two maps. The resultant map is quite cool, as you can then move
around and zoom in on any area for more detail (especially Lanesville,
helpful to find Steve's Campsite)

Steve's Campsite ~ Was the hot
campsite for those roughing it at JewelStock in 1996 and again for Bearville
97! This is the place the EDA gathering WILL be focused upon this year,
and Steve is looking forward to having the gang back this summer, assuming
Erica pays for the rocks she damaged! :) It is on Route 214 in Lanesville
NY. It is west then north of Bearsville...about 17-20 miles down the road.
You may wish to use the MapQuest Cyber Atlas above to get directions from
Bearsville or Woodstock to Lanesville. Phone 914-688-7062
List member Tom O'Brien posted these directions on the list for Bearsville
97:
- Ok, I called Steve's and interrupted his wife's dinner, so I hope
everyone benefits from these directions. I don't know how specific these
are coming from the South, but from I-87 get off at Kingston Exit 19 ("This
is a good place to shop, if your girlfriend, or your wife want to shop"
says Steve's wife) Make a sharp right onto Route 28. Go 25 miles until
you see Al's Restaurant. Al's has a big Eagle and and American flag, you
can't miss it. Make a right at Al's. Make a left at the Phoenicia Drugstore.
Go 9 miles until you see the sign for Steve's Campsite. Make a right past
the sign onto a dirt road. Make a left, go over two bridges and then make
a right, where you'll see the check-in booth.
There are other campsites in the area, but Steve's Campsite is going
to be the main focal point for EDAs as usual....the others? They
are listed here.
If you'd rather sleep indoors during your experience, we recommend
the Woodstock Lodge (formerly the Pinecrest Lodge). Many EDAs stayed there
for JewelStock in 1996 and a few of us did for Bearsville 97. More details
are coming right up, so don't go away :)
